HIC Quiksilver All Military Surf Classic
Kalaeloa, Hawaii (Saturday, June 20th, 2026) - As the world celebrated International Surfing Day over 130 active-duty and retired US Military, and Department of Defense employees took to the surf at White Plains Beach in Kalaeloa, Hawaii. For 17 years, the HIC Quiksilver All-Military Surf Classic, Presented by MWR Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, has provided the opportunity for those who protect our nation to enjoy a day of sun, surf, and friendly competition. The event is dedicated in loving memory to Marvin Nuestro, the longtime manager of the White Plains lifeguard staff and founder of the All-Military Surf Classic back in 2005.
In the water, clean and consistent waves provided ample opportunities for the competitors while family and friends cheered them on from the very hot, sunny beach. The event included fourteen divisions: five for active-duty personnel and nine for DOD employees and retired military, with separate categories for men and women in both shortboard and longboard surfing.
The coveted "Top Branch Award" goes to the branch with the highest combined score, based on the final placings of individuals in each active-duty division. The Coast Guard dominated by placing 14 surfers in the final rounds for a total score of 76 points. The Army finished a strong second, with members taking first in three of five finals for 37 points. Rounding out the Top Branch competition, the Navy placed third with 22 points, the Air Force placed fourth with 15 points, and the Marines placed fifth with 8 points.
